DAY 1 : Full Day Trip To Ourika Valley

Departure at 9am to enjoy the freshness of the day in the Atlas. Ourika valley is located at the north side of the central High Atlas (Southeast of Marrakech) Few minutes drive a long Elhaouz plain once was the granary supplying Marrakech in all its needs.Today with the climate change seems to be poor and dry,unfortunately the buildings are catching up with.

All of a sudden,you find yourself in front of a very fertile rich soil,with olive groves and other fruit trees, and at the middle from time to time ochre Adobe constructions emerging among the strap.

Against the current of the river Ourika,following the road which offers nice and panoramic views where you can see people practicing many activities from agriculture,pottery and grazing,many stops,but the most interesting is the visit of the Berber village.

The high Atlas has been always the fief of the Berbers
have all the time lived in altitudes,
Their origins stretch back to Arabian Peninsula (Yemen nowadays) .
The word Berber means (to be Free)according to the locals.
And also from Latin word ( Barbarus) means (foreign to Greco-Roman civilization ) Also called Mauri .
Many Groups, Many tribes, and traditions.

Sharing a typical breakfast and you learn about the locals style of life.
At the end of the valley,people who can do a high level of hiking ,they have to be well equipped,hiking shoes (not high hills)a hat,sun screen ,a bottle of water and some dried fruits (no better than raisins,contains sugar for healthy people non diabetics and helps blood circulation to avoid any problems of altitude sickness )

With assistance through a craggy path you get to the waterfalls (the level of water varies between wet and dry season) : Down to where the car is left. Enjoy a meal on the bank of the river. And down following the stream back to the city.
