Hulf Day Museums & Souks Tour Of Marrakech
Marrakesh is a museum city ,and it is very intresting for any traveler visiting Marrakesh to take avail of the opportunity to visit its museums . The charm of these buildings is not only the beauty and the variety of the expositions; but the gorgeous architecture of the settings as most of them were used as palaces where imminent families lived . This experience stars with Marrakesh Museum which is a 19th century palace built by ex minister of defense converted in 1997 as Musee de Marrakech by the Moroccan writer Omar Ben Jalloune.
Followin the concept of typical homes in Marrakesh , it has a lovely courtyard in the middle ornate with three fountains for the sake of symmetry and geometry and surrounded by four rooms overlooking the patio ,each room houses a special old had made items varying from embroidery ,jewelry ,Fes pottery to nice sabers and daggers .It worth mentioning to our guests to enjoy the amazing beautifully decorated cedar wood ceilings.
Hidden behind these rooms and through a little narrow maze ,you will discover the private traditional Hammam that the well-todo family used . It is actually a sign that shows how sophisticated the taste and the quality of life , walking deeper into the medina for about 10 min here you are in the Photography Museum a totally different building from the previous one in style, size and architecture . Originally ,the construction was used as old Inn or a caravanne serrail in 16th century to store goods , shelter pack animals and house merchants and traders .It was converted in 2008 as a house of Photography .it is an archive of Morocco and a history of ideas and concepts of Moroccan life .the different rooms in the two levels are decorated with a collection of old photographs and Photos documenting in black and white Morocco between 1870 and 1950 .Because you are in the heart of the hustle and bustle of the Medina , we recommend ending up in the roof terrace of the building with a drink and enjoy the panoramic view of the whole city including the Atlas Mountains .
Walking through one of the colorful streets towards the other side of the souks where the last Museum to be visited is located .We are in Dar El Pasha Museum named recently as Musee de confluences .Morocco being a land of tolerance between religions and a country where all races and tribes cohabitate and live together peacefully , makes a visit of this jewel a must see.
The powerful Pasha ,lived in this palace during the Frensh occupation and spread his rule towards the the southern part of the kingdom to control trade by building many Kasbahs in the region. The rooms exhibit unique and antique pieces representing the Islamic , Jewish ,African and Roman cultures which proves to the visitor the richness and diversity of Moroccan life and history. The fountains , the sound of the water ; the scent of the orange blossom ,the symphony of GOD (birds) enhance and add more exotism to this heaven on earth.
